What are skin tags?
Skin tags, also known as acrochordon, are a benign condition that generally appears after middle age. A skin tag looks like a small, soft, hanging piece of skin that may dangle from a stalk. Skin tags can occur on any part of the body, but are more common in skin folds where the skin rubs against itself, such as in the armpits, groin, under the breasts, under the eyelids, and on the neck.
Several factors increase the risk of developing skin tags. Genetic predisposition is one of them, but obesity and diabetes also play a role. Skin tags are also more common in pregnant women due to hormonal changes.
